Wedding Scripture

One wedding scripture reading will usually suffice.
Those below are only suggestions.
It is always appropriate to ask a friend or family member to read a scripture or a poem during your wedding ceremony.

Psalm 100.
" Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth.
Worship the Lord with gladness; come into his presence with singing.
Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people and the sheep of his pasture.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise.
Give thanks to him, bless his name.
For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever,
and his faithfulness to all generation."

or

Let the world make a joyful noise for God to hear!
Worship God with gladness, and let our happy hearts sing!
For we have been made by this divine presence - we are God's people.
We are the sheep of God's divine flock,
and we come the the Shepherd with joy and gratitude.
Give thanks! Bless the name of God,
for God is good this day and every day....forever and ever.

John 13:34,35.
"I give you a new commandment, that you love one another.
Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.
By this everyone will know that you are my disciples,
if you have love for one another."

John 15: 9-12
"As God has loved me, so I have loved you;
abide in my love.
I have said these things to you so that my joy may be in you,
and that your joy may be complete.
"This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you."

I Corinthians 13:1-8, 13.
" If I speak in the tongues of mortals and of angels, but do not have love,
I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.
And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge,
and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains,
but do not have love, I am nothing.
If I give away all my possessions,... but do not have love, I gain nothing.
Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude.
It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;
it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth.
It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Love never ends."

Based on Isaiah 54:10; Micah 6:8 and 1 John 4:12
"I have loved you with an everlasting love.
I have called you, and you are mine.
It is God who speaks:
The mountains may crumble, the hills may be shaken,
but my love for you will never leave you,
and my covenant of peace with you will never end.
I have loved you with an everlasting love.
I have called you, and you are mine.
And this is what God asks of you - only this:
to act justly, to love tenderly, and to walk humbly with your God."

Colossians 3: 12-14
" As God's chosen ones, holy and beloved,
clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.
Bear with one another, and if one has a complaint against another,
forgive each other; just as God has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.
Above all, clothe yourselves with love which binds everything together in perfect harmony."

1 John 4:7-8.
"Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God;
everyone who loves is born of God and knows God... for God is love."

Ruth 1: 16-17 - King James
"Entreat me not to leave thee,
or to return from following after thee:
for whither thou goest, I will go;
and where thou lodgest, I will lodge:
thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God"
